I decided to to go the urgent care facility in my town because one of my good friends was just diagnosed with strep throat a few days ago. I wasn't running a fever and I didn't see the funny spots on the back of my throat, but because someone I'm in relatively close contact with tested positive for strep I didn't want to screw around. I was at the urgent care place a few minutes before it opened, thank goodness. I was maybe the fifth patient through the doors and it took me an hour and a half to see the doctor. People who walked in an hour after me were told that the wait could be up to three hours and that they should think about calling back later to inquire about the wait time. Luckily once I got back there the visit didn't take too long--the nurse took my vitals and did a swab for the quick strep test, I waited about ten minutes or so, and then the doctor came back with the test results (negative, yay!) and I was out the door. I am very glad I don't need antibiotics because they always make me feel lousy. I'm just not a fan. Another plus: I brought my laptop with me and got a lot of work done on one of my dissertation chapters.
I needed to stop and get some food and cold medicine, so I stopped by the grocery store on the way home. It was lunchtime and I was hungry so I just could not pass up the salad bar. I made myself a nice spring mix/spinach salad with some veggies and a few more unhealthy toppings, but I needed a little comfort food.

How were your runs/workouts?
Did you do anything exciting today?
What's your favorite thing to get at a salad bar?
Have a great Saturday, everyone!

Bummer Beth! My one coworker has actually been sick for a week and a half...thinking its allergies. Maybe yours could be allergies?! Glad the test came back negative though...strep throat sucks! Smart thinking with bringing your laptop with you. And comfort food is always a must when you're not feeling well. ;) good luck with tomorrows run...I know it's frustrating when training doesn't go as planned. Keep us updated! Enjoy the rest of your night as much as you can. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you start feeling better soon Beth!! Being sick is never fun, especially when you have so much you want to accomplish!
ReplyDeleteI had a 4 mile run today, but spent most of the day otherwise trying to sleep as I'm working the overnight shifts. Oh, and hanging out in my compression socks all day - know you love those! :) As for salad bars - anything yummy I can get my hands on ... My eyes always seem to be bigger than my stomach!
Feel better soon! Salad looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI hope you start to feel better soon! Nothing worse than a lingering illnes. :(
ReplyDeleteI ran a half marathon yesterday and completely sucked! I'm not bummed about my finish results, but bummed at how crappy I feel today. Blah.
